Jingran vs Hiyuki: Which 5-Star to Pull in WuWa

Jingran wants 50,000 Max HP and a shielder. Hiyuki needs Chafe and a partner who can spend her Outro. Both banners close September 29 at 11:59 server time, so the choice is one or the other, not both.

Two 5-star carries, two banners, one deadline. Jingran is the new Fusion Broadblade of 3.6 Phase 2 and Hiyuki is a Glacio Sword on her first rerun, and they overlap for the whole phase. Neither is a strictly better pick, because they ask for completely different rosters. What follows is the two kits side by side, where each one is clearly ahead, and the Astrite case for each.

Same window, same deadline

Phase 2 opened on September 10 at 10:00 server time, one minute after Phase 1 closed, and every convene in it shuts together on September 29 at 11:59. The patch itself runs until the September 30 maintenance, which means the final day of 3.6 has no limited banner running at all. If you are still deciding on the 29th, remember the cutoff is just before noon and not at the 04:00 daily reset.

The paired weapon banners are Absolute Pulsation, and they behave differently from the character banners: there is no 50/50 there, so every 5★ you pull is the featured weapon. That caps Frostburn or Thousandfold Deliverance at 80 Forging Tide pulls, worst case, with no second coin flip. The weapon banner guide has the full mechanics and the banner end dates page has the closing times in your own timezone.

Jingran: a Heavy Attack carry that runs on Max HP

Kuro never published a Resonator Review for Jingran, so nothing here comes from a Kuro-authored build. The kit is documented on the wiki, and it reads as one long instruction to stack HP. His Nether to Light passive fixes his DEF at 0 and pays him back in conversions, every one of which maxes out at the same HP number.

ConversionRateCapMax HP needed
Fusion DMG Bonus (Nether to Light)1.5% per 1,000 HP75%50,000
Incoming Healing Bonus (Nether to Light)6.2% per 1,000 HP310%50,000
Flat ATK (Forte stat node)36 per 1,000 HP1,80050,000
Flat ATK (Sequence 3)50 per 1,000 HP2,50050,000

Below 50,000 every HP point is doing work. Above it you are buying survivability, and the DEF lock stops mattering because he never wanted a DEF roll anyway. The healing bonus exists for the same reason: a character sitting at 0 DEF has to be kept alive some other way.

His rotation is built around Qi and Yinghuo. Qi caps at 300 and basic attack stages 3 and 4 give 50, while dodge counters, skill variants and his Intro give 100, and a Liberation or a heavy attack carrying Wayfarer's Mark gives 200. A heavy attack spends the whole pool. Liberation drops him into Yinghuo for 15 seconds with 100 Fire of Life, and each heavy attack inside the window burns 25 of it for an extra HP-scaled bonus. In practice that is Liberation, two heavy attacks, out.

SkillMultiplier, Lv.1 to Lv.10Cooldown / cost
Burial of Thousand Souls (Liberation)46.86% x8 to 93.15% x825s, 125 energy, 20 Concerto

Heavy Attack: Stardome Meander24.04% + 24.04% + 48.08% + 144.22%300 Qi
Question the Tombs (Intro) / Rising Fortune and Ebbing Evil (Outro)198.81% / 795% ATK as Fusion DMG10 Concerto

Each heavy attack also carries a second line labelled "DMG increase per 1,000 Max HP". At Lv.10, Soul Raid's version reads 1.48% x2 + 1.90% x3 + 12.44%, so the finisher scales off your HP pool on top of your ATK.

The part most builds miss is Ghost Shroud. It caps at 50 points and converts into Fusion DMG Bonus when he casts his Intro. Jingran feeds himself one point every half second, but a teammate gaining a shield hands him 15 at once. That single line is why his best teams include a shielder, and his own Hark the Dust shield does not count for the team: it never passes to the next character.

Hiyuki: a Liberation-DMG carry that runs on Chafe

Hiyuki has no Resonator Review either, and her kit is the opposite shape: two stances, two gauges, and a rule that everything she does in the second stance counts as Resonance Liberation DMG. That rule is why her echo set is the one it is.

Present Self fills Dedication, capped at 300. Basic attack stage 3 restores 100, Intro Frostedge restores 200, and her skill enhances the next stage 3 for another 100. At a full gauge, holding normal attack fires Frost Splinter, three Liberation-DMG arrows that are immune to interruption and damage while she casts. That spends the gauge and opens Foreclaiming: Inward Vision, the stance switch, which deals Glacio damage, applies 4 Chafe stacks, grants 3 Frostharden Iai and costs no energy.

Foreclaimed Self is where the damage lives. Frostheart, also capped at 300, fills from skill casts and normals, and at 100 she can dodge into Iai Stance for Basic Attack - Iai, which costs 100 Frostheart and one Frostharden Iai and applies 3 Chafe stacks. Each Iai adds a Whiteout Bitterfrost stack, and at 3 the heavy attack becomes Bitterfrost: Foreclaimed Self, granting one Snowforged Blade up to a cap of 3. Those blades charge her burst: holding Resonance Liberation charges Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation, with each point raising the multiplier, then drops her back to Present Self. Unspent points carry over, so a dropped rotation is not a lost one. The Liberation runs 125 energy and a 25 second cooldown.

ResourceCapHow it fills and spends
Dedication300BA stage 3 +100, Intro Frostedge +200, enhanced BA3 +100. Full gauge enables Frost Splinter.
Frostheart300Restored by Foreclaimed Self attacks and skill casts. 100 buys Iai Stance.
Frostharden Iai3Inward Vision grants 3. Each Iai spends 1 and applies 3 Chafe stacks.
Whiteout Bitterfrost31 per Iai. At 3, heavy attack becomes Bitterfrost and grants a Snowforged Blade.
Snowforged Blade3Charges Blade Liberation. Unspent points carry over.
Glacio Chafe10Slows the target; at max stacks it freezes and resets. Her Forte Circuit turns teammates' Chafe into Glacio Bite.

Her Inherent Skill, Fine Snow, is the one that pays off with the right partner: whenever a teammate applies Glacio Chafe or Havoc Bane, she gains a Snow Rust stack, up to 3, once per Resonator. At one stack, Glacio Bite damage is amplified 30% in range and her Crit DMG rises 40%; at two, every Chafe application also lands a Glacio Bite instance. Her Outro, Snowlight Blessing, amplifies teammates' Glacio DMG 20% against Chafe-affected targets for 20 seconds, which is why she can also be run as a sub-DPS for a Glacio carry.

Where Jingran is the better buy

  • You own a shielder already. Jianxin, Iuno, Taoqi, Brant and Augusta all work, and Yuanwu is the budget answer through his fourth sequence node. Without one, Ghost Shroud crawls in at one point every half second and a chunk of his ceiling never arrives.
  • Your Fusion roster is thin. Mornye sits on the banner next to him as a Fusion Broadblade support and healer with DMG Amplification, and she covers the healing half of a character whose DEF is 0.
  • You already have Crit weapons to lend. Ages of Harvest or Radiance Cleaver step in if you skip the signature. You lose the HP substat, but the kit still functions.
  • You want the lower-effort rotation. Qi accumulates from ordinary basics and dodge counters, and the Yinghuo window is two heavy attacks long.

Where Hiyuki is the better buy

  • You want the cheaper entry. Emerald of Genesis from the standard banner is a legitimate pick, with a Crit Rate substat and Energy Regen that keeps a 125-cost Liberation moving. For Jingran there is no equivalent: no Broadblade at any rarity offers HP%, so skipping Thousandfold Deliverance costs roughly a fifth of the way to 50,000.
  • You own Zhezhi or Sanhua. Zhezhi's Glacio DMG Amplification stacks with Hiyuki's Outro, and Sanhua is the cheap flex. Baizhi on the healer slot is 4-star and matches her element.
  • You want roster flexibility. Her Outro works in both directions. Build her as the carry, or park her behind a Glacio main and let the 20% amplification do the work.
  • You would rather farm echoes than roll for stats. Freezing Frost's 5-piece stacks off her own basic and heavy attacks, and everything in Foreclaimed Self benefits from flat Glacio DMG Bonus.

One fight that tilts the other way

Both carries farm a 4-cost through their own hologram, and Jingran's is the Myriad Snare Tactical Hologram. That boss carries 40% Fusion RES, so a Fusion carry takes a visible damage hit in the same fight he needs for his echo. Hiyuki has no such tax on the Lampylumen Myriad. If you measure your carries on endgame hologram and Tower performance, this is worth pricing in. The Myriad Snare guide and the endgame guide cover the rest of the mode.

Which one should you pull?

Take Hiyuki if you own a Glacio partner and either the standard-banner sword or the Astrite for Frostburn. Her floor is high enough that a partially built Hiyuki is still a functioning carry, and she slots into a Glacio team without demanding a role change from anyone else.

Take Jingran if you can genuinely reach 50,000 Max HP and you already field a shielder. That pairing is the whole character. A Jingran at 35,000 HP with no shield source is a carry with a ceiling you can feel, and the honest answer there is to wait for a rerun rather than spend the pity.

Skip both if Hsin is why you opened the game this month. She arrives on September 30 as a new Electro Rectifier, and the 3.7 preview has the phase she lands in. A free-to-play patch pays out around 68 pulls, less than one hard pity, so committing here usually means skipping there.

Astrite math, briefly

What you are buyingExpected pullsAstriteWorst case
Either character, fresh 50/50~83~13,280160 pulls, 25,600
Either character, guarantee banked~56~8,96080 pulls, 12,800
Either signature weapon~56~8,96080 Forging pulls, 12,800

A pull costs 160 Astrite, and hard pity lands at 80 on the character banners. The weapon side has no 50/50, which makes 80 the real ceiling there instead of 160. The pity system explainer walks through the soft pity ramp, and the 50/50 explainer covers what happens when you lose. If you want to see the distribution instead of the average, run a few hundred pulls through the pull simulator before you commit, and check what the rest of 3.6 pays with the Astrite per patch breakdown.

FAQ

Are Jingran and Hiyuki on the same banner?
No. Two separate Featured Resonator Convenes, Where Santu Beckons and Thousand Futures Mirrored in Snow, running side by side from September 10 at 10:00 to September 29 at 11:59 server time. Their pity counters are separate.
Which one is stronger?
Not answerable from published data, and the site's guides say so rather than guess. There is no official Resonator Review for either, and comparing raw multipliers across two kits that scale off different stats would not mean anything. The useful question is which roster you can actually support, which is what the comparison above is for.
Do I need Jingran's signature weapon?
You need HP from somewhere. Thousandfold Deliverance is the only 5-star Broadblade with an HP substat, so skipping it means making up the gap with HP% echo substats. That is possible, just slower.
Can Hiyuki work without Zhezhi?
Yes. Sanhua is a 4-star Basic Attack amplifier on the same element, and Verina covers the healer slot if Baizhi is in use elsewhere. What she does not want is a team that never applies Chafe, because Fine Snow and her Forte Circuit both depend on it.
Should I skip both and save for 3.7?
If you plan to pull Hsin, yes. Version 3.7 opens September 30, roughly 22 hours after these banners close, and a free-to-play patch funds about one attempt.
