Wuthering Waves Xuanfang Finale: Story Preview, Hsin and What's Next
Kuro published the official Xuanfang Finale preview on August 28, 2026: Hsin's secret, Suoming's arrival, and a Waking Moon Festival that may not be peaceful. This guide recaps the whole Muyu arc so far, breaks down the three preview panels, and explains what the finale could mean for your pulls.
What is the Xuanfang Finale?
On August 28, 2026, the official news hub posted Post-Lament Anthropocene: Comprehensive Mirror for Historians—Xuanfang Finale Preview. It is a story teaser for the closing chapter of the Xuanfang arc, told in three panels: Hsin's Secret, Xuanfang Hold's Fate, and A Wild Card.
The notice carries no release date, no version number, and no banner information. The only version anchor right now is wiki metadata: the page for Suoming, a character who appears in the preview, lists her under "Released in Version 3.7". Treat that as an expectation, not an announcement. What the preview does give us is a lot of story: the Sentinel who never showed her face, an investigator who says her frequency is critically unstable, and a festival that looks like a trap.
Where the story stands: the Muyu arc
The finale closes Chapter IV, Rebirth From the Depths, the main quest chapter set in Mengzhou. It has run across two versions, and the wiki's quest summaries lay the whole chain out:

The antagonist across this whole stretch is Muyu, a quest-exclusive NPC. The wiki's page on him fills in the backstory: a former helmsman of Zhuojun Atelier's Jianshui Branch and the Xuanfang Ministry of Development, over 200 years old, who turned misanthropic during the Fortress and Gorges War. He instigated the Autopuppet Crisis by possessing Autopuppets with the Reverberations of fallen soldiers, allied with the Fractsidus overseer Balanophora, took over the Xuanyuan Domain's Sonoro Sphere, and made his last stand as the Calamity Effigy boss before Jingran finished him. That is the slate the finale wipes clean.
Hsin, the Sentinel of Mengzhou
At the center of the finale is Hsin, the Moon Fox: one of Huanglong's seven Sentinels, stationed in Mengzhou. The wiki's page describes a merrymaker who loves joining celebrations, wanders the woods (the rustling leaves are said to be her), and leaves small gifts behind, like the lottery wheel at the Moon-Chasing Festival. The festival's popular origin story, "The Fox and the Moon", credits her with the term "Moon-Chasing" itself.
The preview's mystery is the gap between that image and her record. In the crises that befell the Land of Xuanfang, Hsin never showed her face. When Suisui and Qingxiao pressed her for a reason, she stayed taciturn. Her line in the preview is the closest thing to an explanation: "If... one life could settle this, I would not ask for two."
For players, the interesting part is what the wiki's infobox says: Hsin is listed as an upcoming 5-star Electro Rectifier, and her trivia section calls her the first playable Sentinel in Wuthering Waves. Rarity, kit numbers, and a release window are not published anywhere official yet, so treat the attribute and weapon as wiki data and the "first Sentinel" claim as worth repeating only with that caveat.
What the preview tells us, panel by panel
Hsin's Secret
The first panel sets up the question the finale has to answer: why did a Sentinel who loves festivals and merriment stay hidden through the Autopuppet crisis and everything after? The preview does not answer it. It just makes the silence deliberate, and frames Hsin's duty as something she may not have been able to fulfill in plain sight.
Xuanfang Hold's Fate
Two hundred years ago, in the Fortress and Gorges War, the Sentinel of Mengzhou "turned to powers beyond mortal understanding" and used Xuanfang Hold to hold back the Tacet Discord outbreak. The wiki's lore pages fit: Xuanfang Hold was established by Hsin and Mengzhou's frontier court to contain the TD outbreak, built on the ruins of Yuan Fortress, which was destroyed in that war.
Now the Muyu crisis is resolved and the Hold is gearing up for the Waking Moon Festival. But the preview's second panel undercuts the peace: Suoming, Intendant from the Ministry of Sentinel Affairs, has arrived on the Land of Xuanfang, and what she says is the crux of the whole teaser: "The Ministry of Sentinel Affairs detected that Hsin's frequency has become critically unstable, and Her state and Xuanfang Hold's are one. This is... Hsin's Prism of Fate. I never imagined She would give this to you. Which means She chose to trust you."
A Wild Card
The third panel rewinds to the setup: in a bet with Hsin, Suisui selected Rover as the "trump card" that could turn everything around. Under Hsin's guidance, Rover met Qingxiao, and the two resolved the Xuanyuan Domain crisis together. Hsin's parting words to Rover: "Arbiter, when the time is right, I will give you and Xuanfang the answers you deserve. When that day comes, bring the Prism of Fate and come see..."
Reading between the lines, and this is interpretation rather than fact: a Sentinel whose condition is fused with the city she built, a festival the city is preparing in her honor, and a sealed artifact handed to the one person she trusted. The pieces point at a sacrifice play. The preview deliberately does not confirm it.
Suoming, the Intendant
Suoming is the new face in the preview: an Intendant from the Ministry of Sentinel Affairs, on the Land of Xuanfang to investigate why a Sentinel's frequency reads critically unstable. The wiki lists her as an upcoming 5-star Electro Sword resonator, and her bio quote fits an investigator carrying a grudge: "Let go. Forget... I've heard those words a thousand times. I've said them to myself a thousand more. But this obsession... this is exactly what I want."
That quote plus her ministry role makes her a plausible player-character for the finale, though again, nothing about her kit or her banner has been announced.
What it means for pulls
Straight answer: nothing is announced, so do not reshuffle your plan for a banner that does not exist yet. What is announced is the rest of 3.6, per the official update content published August 18: Phase 1 (Qingxiao's debut and Denia's rerun) runs to September 10, 09:59 server time, and Phase 2 starts September 10, 10:00 with Jingran's debut, Hiyuki's first rerun, and Mornye's third run, ending September 29, 11:59. If the finale ships with the next version and Hsin becomes the banner character, she would arrive with the usual economics: hard pity at 80 pulls, which is 12,800 Astrite, or 25,600 for a guaranteed copy if you lose the 50/50, per the official Convene Details. Kit numbers will only land with the patch notes, so the honest play is: keep saving if a first-ever playable Sentinel interests you, but do not skip Phase 2 of 3.6 on the strength of a teaser.
