Wuthering Waves 3.6 Patch Day: Update Times, Compensation & Checklist

Version 3.6 goes live August 20 after a seven-hour maintenance window. Here is exactly when servers come back in your timezone, who gets the 300 Astrite compensation, and what is actually worth doing in the first hours of the update.

When 3.6 goes live

Version 3.6 "Lamplight in Mirage, Sword's Resolve in Heart" launches on August 20. The official update maintenance notice, published August 13, sets the window: servers go down at 04:00 and are scheduled to come back at 11:00 (UTC+8, server time). Everything below is UTC+8 unless noted.

One caveat from the notice itself: if maintenance runs long, Kuro publishes a follow-up notice and adjusts the compensation. Treat 11:00 as the plan, not a guarantee.

What closes before maintenance

Every limited banner still live in 3.5 ends on August 19, the day before the patch. That means the Phase 2 lineup (Suisui, Aemeath, and their weapons) and both Reverb banners (Starpath Reverbs and Tideforge Reverbs) all shut down at 11:59 server time. If you were still deciding on any of them, the deadline is August 19, not August 20. Our 3.6 preview has the full rundown of what each one offers.

Missing a banner is not the end of the world. Pity carries over to the next featured resonator convene, and Radiant Tides stay in your inventory, so unspent pulls are only "lost" in the sense that this particular lineup disappears. The same is not true of event shops and expiring items, so clear whatever you still want from the current events before maintenance starts.

Waveplates and the maintenance gap

The common advice before any patch is "spend your waveplates first." Worth checking the math, though: waveplates regenerate 1 every 6 minutes up to a cap of 240, and anything past the cap banks as Waveplate Crystals (up to 480) instead of being wasted. A seven-hour maintenance is about 70 waveplates of regen you cannot spend. If you log out near 240, you lose almost nothing.

The real value on patch day is the compensation: Astrite ×300 and Crystal Solvent ×2. Each solvent restores 60 waveplates, so that is 120 on top of whatever you banked. Save them for the 3.6 farming you actually want to do rather than burning them on day one out of habit.

First-day checklist for 3.6

Once the servers are back, this order covers the high-value stuff:

  • Claim the compensation from Mail. 300 Astrite (one pull with 140 left over) plus 2 Crystal Solvent. Eligibility is a character with Mail unlocked before August 20, 04:00 (UTC+8), and the mail stays claimable until the next version update, so there is no rush.
  • Decide your Phase 1 pulls. The Denia rerun guide covers one side of this. Qingxiao (5★ Aero Sword, banner: Wind of Transcendence) is the new one. Kuro has not published her kit numbers yet, so hold any "pull or skip" verdict until the numbers are out. Her signature sword, Glint of Clouds, also opens with her banner alongside the Forged Dwarf Star rerun.
  • Start Chapter IV Act III "Song of the Heart Sword." The new story quest is the gateway to Xuanyuan Domain, the new area in Mengzhou. Area access matters more than it sounds: new-area farming and most of the patch's content hang off it.
  • Log in daily. Gifts of Drifting Mist is a 7-day login event, and it is the cheapest Astrite of the patch. Set a reminder if you tend to skip days.
  • Peek at the new combat event. Resonance Sim Realm is the patch's featured combat event and it hands out two collectibles: the "Resonance! Best Combo" title and the Phantom Echo of Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis.
  • Check the new endgame fight. Tactical Hologram: Sparring adds Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis as a challenge, for anyone who cleared the current hologram roster.
  • PC players: check your DLSS settings. 3.6 upgrades NVIDIA frame generation support to DLSS 4.5. If your card supports it, it is a free performance bump worth turning on before anything else.

Beyond the banners and the story, the version preview lists a few things easy to miss:

  • New Echo: Calamity Effigy joins the roster.
  • Expedition Motorbike: new liveries (Cloud Voyage, Jadie the Mightiest Autopuppet) plus improved navigation and Autopilot Mode.
  • Quality-of-life: an optimized Echo Recommendation feature, an overhauled Mail feature, and better sharing.
  • Other events: The Strings Remember and Second Coming of Solaris: Coded Deception (leisure), If Dreams Still Reverberate (co-op combat), and Wuthering Exploration: Fogveil Pagoda (exploration).

When is Phase 2?

Kuro has not announced 3.6 Phase 2 yet. For planning: 3.5's Phase 2 opened 20 days into the patch (July 30, twenty days after the July 10 launch). The same pattern puts 3.6 Phase 2 around September 9, with Jingran (5★ Fusion Broadblade), Hiyuki and Mornye. That is an expectation based on the 3.5 schedule, not an official date, so treat it as a rough marker for saving decisions.
