WuWa 3.7 Patch Notes: Optimizations and QoL

Version 3.7 went live on September 30, and the official patch notes run long. Past the new characters and the event list sits a block called "Adjustments and Optimizations" that changes things you use every session: your Echo bag, your team screen, the camera, the quest log, and which phones can turn on Vulkan.

What is in the 3.7 patch notes

The notes went up at 10:00 (UTC+8) on September 30, the minute maintenance ended. Alongside Hsin, Suoming and the Simulacrum Nexus, they carry optimizations split into features, leveling, challenges, UI and graphics. Five touch daily play:

  • Echo Backpack: unequipped, unupgraded Echoes now stack by type, Sonata Effect and main stat, up to 999 per stack.
  • Team Management: 20 team slots, rename and reorder, plus a 3D lineup view.
  • Camera Mode: rebuilt, with handheld, selfie and drone shooting modes.
  • Synthesis: a one-way conversion that turns old region ascension materials into Regenerative Pistils.
  • Journey Log: replay the 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 main quests.

Echo Backpack storage now stacks

This is the change most players will feel within an hour. Any Echo in your backpack that is unequipped and not upgraded now stacks with another Echo when three things match: type, Sonata Effect and main stat. A stack holds up to 999. Beyond that the overflow is removed rather than parked in a second pile, so a four-digit hoard of one identical piece does not survive the merge.

Your marks do. Locked and unlocked Echoes stack together and the combined item is flagged Locked. Discarded Echoes stack with unmarked ones under a Discarded flag. A piece that is both locked and discarded comes out as Locked. Stacking does not quietly unprotect anything.

The Echo Recommendation screen also now suggests Resonance Mode-specific sets for Resonators with two modes, and flags any overlap with the default pick.

Team management: 20 slots, rename, reorder, 3D lineup

Teams got real management. A new Team Management menu lets you drag teams into order and rename them, with the name shown top-left on screen, and team setups rise to 20. The lineup screen gets a 3D/2D toggle in the top-right, defaulting to 2D. Kuro notes the 3D view is unavailable on iOS with 4GB RAM or less or Android with 6GB RAM or less, adds device load, and is not final. The Tower of Adversity lineup page also gains a Preset Teams menu, so you can pick a saved team at the challenge.

Camera Mode is basically a new feature

The photo tool got the widest rework in the patch. Three modes join the original: handheld, where you adjust the character's line of sight; selfie, where Rover alone can be posed with expressions; and a drone view for wide panoramas.

  • Reference lines, lens templates, and Quick Focus, which locks onto a subject you click and then sets focus distance against it.
  • On-character lighting templates with an adjustable lighting direction.
  • An Environment tab for Time, Weather and Foliage Wind Direction, plus an Atmosphere density option. Time changes can take a moment to apply.
  • Preset frames, a size-adjustable "Wuthering Waves" logo, and a wider global filter with a colour palette. The camera filter is separate from the overworld filter.

Synthesis adds a one-way conversion into Regenerative Pistils

Under Synthesis > Conversion > One-Way Conversion there is a new route to Regenerative Pistils, the Bioprinting material. You feed in collectible Resonator Ascension materials from Jinzhou, the Black Shores, Rinascita, Roya Frostlands and Mengzhou and get Pistils back. It is a sink for the early-region flowers and ores that pile up after you finish ascending everyone who wants them, and the trade is one-way.

Replay the 1.1 to 1.3 main quests

Journey Log now supports Main Quest Replay Mode for Version 1.1 Thaw of Eons, 1.2 In the Turquoise Moonglow and 1.3 To the Shore's End. Open Quests > Journey Log and press Replay. Version 1.2 does not unlock until 1.1 is done. Progress saves automatically when you leave, and you can resume or reset it. Some main-quest-exclusive trophies can be earned in replay; items you pick up stay in the replay and do not carry back to your account. Kuro says more quests will follow.

Weekly activity and Tower of Adversity tweaks

  • Fantasies of the Thousand Gateways, the permanent weekly challenge in Rinascita's Thessaleo Fells, gains Sigils tied to Flashburn (Fusion Burst) and Frostbane (Glacio Chafe), plus new Metaphor and shop-item content.
  • Tower of Adversity: the way Popular Teams recommendations are generated is reworked.
  • Daily quest "Short Days, Shorter Nights": its flow and instructions were cleaned up and its daily reset frequency increased.
  • Simulacrum Nexus UI: gameplay features in the new area show a reward collection progress panel, opened from the icon beside the mini map, and the same progress appears on the matching map icons.

Graphics and performance

Two mobile changes and one promotion. Vulkan support expands to a much longer chipset list, and Kuro turns it on by default on recent Exynos hardware. The path is Settings > Graphics > Vulkan, and the game needs a restart for the change to take effect.

ChangeWhat it covers
Vulkan now availableKirin 8000 and 8000A; Dimensity 7200, 7200-Ultra, 7300, 7300-Ultra, 7500, 8000, 8100, 8100-MAX, 8200, 8200-Ultimate, 8200-Ultra, 8250 Star Speed Edition, 8300-Ultra and 8350; Exynos 1480
Vulkan on by defaultExynos 2600, 2500, 2400, 2200 and 1480
Frame generation extendedDimensity 9300 and 9300+, enabled in Settings > Graphics > Frame Generation once Vulkan is on
"New programming language" optimizationOut of limited test (it ended September 9, 15:00 UTC+8) and now full-scale on all platforms

The frame-generation claim is the one to be skeptical of: less power at 60 FPS with frame generation on than at 60 FPS without it, when the render rate and the display rate are not the same number. The programming-language optimization still skips iOS with 4GB RAM or less, iPhone 14 series on iOS 16.0, 17.0, 17.1 or 17.2, and Android with 6GB RAM or less. On those devices the client keeps running the original language, and Kuro says nothing changes.

The three new Sonata Effects, now with numbers

Our 3.7 Echo guide had to leave these blank, because the version preview named the sets without printing their text. The patch notes fill that in.

5-piece setEffect
Heart of Sworn VigilInflicting Electro Flare, gaining Unison, or triggering Unison Response grants 15% Crit Rate and 22.5% Electro DMG for 30s.
Flash of Electric ReflectionInflicting Electro Flare grants 10% Electro DMG for 15s. While that is active, casting Outro gives the incoming Resonator 25% Electro DMG for 15s.
Flower of Tinged YearningHealing a teammate gives the whole team 10% ATK for 30s (effects of the same name do not stack). While active, gaining Unison or triggering Unison Response adds another 15% ATK.

Both Hsin and Suoming list Unison in their official combat roles and both are Electro, so all three sets read as built for the new pair rather than for the reruns sharing their banners. Whether the numbers hold depends on kit multipliers Kuro has not published.

Two new Phantom Echoes and two free cosmetics

The "other new content" list is short: Sigil: Showtime, Sigil: All Forms in One Heart, Avatar: Wooly's Blessing, Motorbike Livery: Fox Shadow at Sunset, and two Phantom Echoes, Phantom: Skywatch Lancer and Phantom: Smolder. The two cosmetics come from the Cubie Wars leisure event, so they cost event time rather than Astrite.

A Phantom Echo is an alternate appearance for an existing Echo, unlocked by beating the mutated version of that enemy; the unlock pays a trophy and the Echo skill is unchanged. Smolder, the enemy behind the second, is a Fusion Whisperin Tacet Discord in Mengzhou, so expect it to resist Fusion damage like the rest of its family. The five named new Echoes plus one unnamed COST 4 Echo are covered in the Echo guide.

The tiered download test, and the one caveat

The notes repeat the Tiered Client Resource Downloads test: after 3.7, PC players on the official launcher get it in stages, and every iOS and Android device gets it at once. Future versions will split the client into UHD, HD and SD tiers based on graphics quality and assets. Our download tiers guide breaks down the same test, including the trap that PC players who updated the official launcher during 3.6 lose 3.7 pre-download. If that option never appeared for you, that is why.

What the patch notes do not tell you

Hsin and Suoming get official combat roles: Hsin as Main Damage Dealer, Coordinated Attack, Resonance Skill DMG, Unison and Electro Flare; Suoming as Concerto Efficiency, Basic Attack DMG, Unison, Electro DMG Amplification and Resonance Skill DMG Amplification. What the notes do not give is a single multiplier, energy cost or cooldown, and the sixth Echo in the new list is still unnamed. Build numbers usually land on the wiki once players have the characters in hand, so treat any early build guide as provisional.

FAQ

Does Echo stacking lose my locked Echoes?
No. Locked and unlocked Echoes stack together and the combined item is marked Locked, and a piece that is both locked and discarded is treated as Locked. Only unequipped, unupgraded Echoes stack, and only when type, Sonata Effect and main stat all match.
How many team slots does 3.7 give me?
20. You can rename the teams and drag them into order in the Team Management menu.
Can I earn trophies by replaying the old main quests?
Some main-quest-exclusive trophies can be earned in Replay Mode. Items you pick up during a replay do not carry back out to your account.
What compensation did 3.7 pay out?
The notes list the maintenance compensation as Astrite ×300 and Crystal Solvent ×2, plus a separate bug-fix compensation of Astrite ×300. Both needed a character created and Mail unlocked before September 30, 04:00 (UTC+8), and stay claimable until the next version update.
Did 3.7 change DLSS again?
The 3.7 performance block covers Vulkan, mobile frame generation and the programming-language optimization. It does not list a new DLSS tier. Version 3.6, covered in our 3.6 performance guide, is where DLSS 4.5 landed.
